Japan is a dream destination blending futuristic cities with deep-rooted traditions. For UAE residents, getting a tourist visa has become incredibly streamlined—especially with the introduction of the Japan e-Visa system
Option 1: The Japan e-Visa (For UAE Residents)
If you hold a valid UAE residence visa and are traveling for short-term tourism, you are likely eligible for the e-Visa. This process is entirely digital.
Register with your email address and verify your account.
You will need digital copies of your passport, UAE Emirates ID/Residence Visa, a passport-style photo, your flight reservations, and a day-by-day travel itinerary.
After submitting, the consulate will review your documents. If approved, you will receive an email instructing you to pay the visa fee.
Once the fee is processed, your electronic visa will be issued. You must display the “Visa Issuance Notice” on your mobile device when checking in for your flight—screenshots or printed copies of the e-Visa are not accepted at the airport.
Option 2: Standard Application via VFS Global
If you prefer applying in person or require a multiple-entry visa, you can submit your application through VFS Global in Abu Dhabi or Dubai.
| Document Needed | Important Notes |
| Application Form | Fully completed and signed. |
| Original Passport & UAE Visa | Must have at least 6 months of validity. |
| Bank Statements | Last 3 months, officially stamped by your UAE bank. |
| Employment Letter (NOC) | Stating your salary, position, and approved vacation dates. |
| Travel Itinerary | Confirmed flight tickets and hotel bookings for the entire duration of the stay. |
Processing for both the e-Visa and standard VFS applications generally takes about 5 to 7 working days, making Japan one of the more efficient countries to apply for
